Works perfectly
I have found the sound quality of this DAC to be first class. It plays flac files (and others) with crystal clear quality and mp3 files are a treat to listen to. It's solidly made and small enough to be unobtrusive. The two main advantages for me are firstly the fact that it has two headphone outputs, a 3.5mm and a 4.4mm one allowing for the use of balanced cables, and secondly that it has an independent volume control that allows fine adjustment of the level. This is a massive bonus as the steps on my smartphone are either too quite or too loud with no happy medium. The buttons on the device have a nice feel to them and give the impression that they will have some longevity. There is a small led light that changes colour to display the quality of the file you are playing (a nice touch!) Lastly it is sold at a very competitive price, in my opinion you get an awful lot of value for your money. Music sounds fantastic through this little device, I for one can thoroughly recommend it, it's an easy five stars.

Awaken your ears
Works well. Awakens my ears to lossless music on Tidal. A must for anyone with access to lossless streams and decent headphones

This will not work properly with every phone
This dac has an excellent sound and is well worth the cost. When paired with a good pair of I.E.M's the sound can be astounding , there is however one caveat, not all phones have the ability to interface to this leading to stuttering sound and playing slow. This is no fault of the dac and is a problem with the Android system and phone software, I have found no problems when used on two different tablets and I can recommend this as a very good purchase.

Finally a budget dac that works
I'll make it short and simple. There are dozens of cheap DACs out there. I tried a few of them because , well, I'm a bit cheap and skeptic on DACS. Returned them all due to VERY bad sound quality. Lower then laptops. This impressed me. For what I paid for it, you get great sound stage, very clean silences when on high volume, and in general improved my listening on my IEMs and low power headphones. I highly recommend to anyone wanting to jump in to the dac game. You wont be dissapointed.

Nice portable DAC
Hiby FC4 has added to my quality of life. It is a noticeable improvement over onboard audio on my computer or my phone audio. I am not trained audiophile so I am not going to attempt any detailed comparisons. Subjectively, I really enjoy the fuller and detailed sound. It has plenty power for my needs - it drives with no problem both my Tanchjim Zero IEMs and even HiFiMan Edition XS, which supposed to be relatively hard to drive. I would suggest to upgrade the firmware for the dongle. My came with version 1.08 and the latest version at time of writing this is 1.12. Note that when you download the DFU tool from Hiby the default is in Chinese. To get English make sure to edit HiBy_DFU_Tool.exe.config by changing default language from zh_CN to en_CN before running the HiBy_DFU_Tool.exe. Also the upgrade will work only with the unit connected to USB 3.0 port - when connected to newer variants of the USB port the tool was crashing before performing the firmware upgrade. When I used a bit older computer with a bit older USB version the upgrade worked fine.

Won't work with all headphones....
They didn't work with my HD600 or the brilliant Verum Audio's without fiddling with the connections. Worked OK with cheaper phones and in-ears though.

Output power is a lie, firmware updater buggy, or simply refuses to work correctly
Well, what should I say, it is not the first Chinese product that lies about its specs. I owned the FC3 from the same brand a while and tried to update with the "better" specced FC4. First, the FC4 came with firmware version 1.08. The update software was in Chinese language only. The software bugged out and brought up error debug windows a couple of times. I think I needed over 10 tries to update the firmware to version 1.12. The software only worked for windows, no alternatives for Linux or mac are there. And the software is in a catastrophic state to begin with. When trying to use the FC4 with Linux, after the update, I found another bug. The jack detection for the 3.5 and 4.4mm jacks simply do not work, even after a system restart and a re-plug of the FC4. So I had to use the 4.4mm jack, since the 3.5mm just did not work. No output at all. The default volume is not set to maximal, but to a minimal value. But that is easy to change. But even at maximum output and the drive connected to a USB-C 3.2 port with lots of juice, the output power is not even on the 140mw output level of the FC3. Even under Windows and using the 4.4mm balanced jack, which should have the advertised 340mw @ 32 Ohm. That number is in my eyes just a lie. The FC4 compared to the FC3 or any other DAC for an USB port (I own several, small and big ones) uses more than double the power than the FC3. That leads even to the device shutting down completely, if used with the USB-A cable on an USB2.0 port on maximum volume. If used on that configuration, more than 75% volume uses up the USB specified and well known and established power limit. The FC4 just powers down then, until you lower the volume below 75%. So the developers of the FC4 were not even capable to keep in the USB specifications. Keeping that in mind, below 75% of output volume, the measured output is less than half of the FC3. At least I could use the FC4 under Windows. Jack detection for the 3.5mm and 4.4mm jack worked there for unknown reasons. But also, when trying to use the 4.4mm jack the signal got distorted like when you tried to software hack the output of an 90ies sound card to more output. It was just not usable, so I had to use the 3.5mm jack there too. Also one common "bug" the FC3 and FC4 share is the delay of output of about 500 milliseconds. When starting any audio output, the first 500ms are cropped. That is not a problem, when listening to a longer and continuous audio part, but it is nerve-wrecking when you listen to smaller audio parts or when you switch tracks in a player that resets the audio stream between tracks. Every time a gap in the beginning of the audio track. All in all I am disappointed and feel betrayed by the positive internet and YouTube reviews of the FC4. I must assume the reviewers got paid for that positivity, because none of the issues I encountered, not even the lie of the output power and the high power usage of the FC4 were mentioned. I recommend not to buy this product. None of these issues can be fixed by another awkward and buggy firmware update.

This has quickly become one of my favorite pieces of audio technology. Whether I'm on the go with my android phone or on my laptop with this plugged into a USB-C port, it does a fantastic job of enhancing my audio experience. I've got an original pair of V-Moda M100's and I wanted something for my phone and laptop that would drive these cans effectively, and the HiBy FC4 absolutely delivers, providing a noticeable bump in fidelity that laptop and phone DACs just can't match. Bonus: the adjustable volume rocker on the side is super convenient and I use it way more than I thought I would. If I was going to nit-pick, it would have been nice if the Amp also had microphone pass-through so I could use this with my work laptop, but it's not enough to knock off a star. Considering it's small size and overall effectiveness, this little amp was well worth the price.

Very good sound quality. Also the Hiby app is quite good although 2 things I don't like are: 1. When I give Exclusive USB Access each time I plug the dac dongle into my phone or tablet the volume is at 100%. If I forget to turn it down before playing, it is so loud it could actually damage my eardrums. Happened a few times. Just awful. 2. I bought this because I use Tidal to stream my music. Tidal can be accessed directly from the Hiby App but everything is in random order. Playlists, songs etc. Nothing can be sorted a-z. This is basically barely a functional integration. Please Hiby, you have to improve this....
