Feel the Earth Move: Mobile Fidelity Gives Listeners the End-All-Be-All Definitive Version of the Long-Time Audiophile ClassicBlockbuster Album Defined Singer-Songwriter Movement, Swept Grammy Awards, Spawned Four Hit Singles, Sold More Than 25 Million Copies WorldwideCarole King's Tapestry is one of the rare albums that immediately plays in your head the moment it's title, cover art, or songs are mentioned. Having achieved status of near-mythical proportions, it is the singer-songwriter record you'd bring to the proverbial desert island if you were limited to one choice. Renowned for it's lifelike production, Tapestry now sounds clearer, richer, and more emotional courtesy of Mobile Fidelity's 180 gram LP. Audiophiles, this is the version that brings Carole King right before your eyes and into your room.Faithful to original album producer Lou Adler's vision of making King (and not just any pianist player) appear seated and playing in front of listeners, these numbered limited-editions delivers utmost transparency, balance, warmth, intimacy, and perhaps most importantly, feeling. Aware of how many times this iconic work has been re-released, Mobile Fidelity engineers settled for nothing less than the absolute finest sonic presentation possible when mastering Tapestry from the original master tapes.Thematically, classics such as 'You've Got a Friend,' 'I Feel the Earth Move,' 'Will You Love Me Tomorrow,' and '(You Make Me Feel Like) a Natural Woman' resonate because they address universal sensibilities and the human condition. They, like all of Tapestry, are relaxed yet emancipating, strong yet mellow, comfortable yet terrifically beautiful and lastingly unique. Four major Grammy Awards, four Top 10 singles, sales of more than 25 million copies, and one of the first albums chosen for inclusion in the National Recording Registry just seem like icing on the cake.Tapestry makes you feel, and compels you to get closer to the music, and the musicians performing. It is an album of organic nuances, suggestive intents, and engaging melodies. Review: The best of the best - One of the best writers of music of her own songs of my generation! She also wrote songs for other singers too! But the songs are classic just some of the best of that have ever been sung and written by Carol King period!!! Review: Four decades later, Carole King's Tapestry album still hold's it's own. - Four decades later, Carole King's Tapestry still can hold it's own and will forever be a landmark album. The proof is sure in that Carole King is touring again, with James Taylor, and singing the time-enduring songs she penned long ago. With minimal production by Lou Adler, King's unadorned, honest vocals, coupled with her personal style are a constant throughout the ballads of Tapestry. Originally released in 1971, this album paved the way for female singer/songwriters. It is a refreshing change from most albums of that time, mainly because the featured instrument is the piano. The songs on this album do not suffer from lack of electric guitar or in-your-face drums. Tapestry features the two hit songs, "It's Too Late" and "I Feel The Earth Move." King's piano pounds out a beat similar to drums on "I Feel The Earth Move" which is sure to have your head bobbing, while her soulful vocals lend to the sexual theme of the song, without being raunchy. King's own version of "You've Got A Friend," is notably the best song on the album. Even though most people relate "You've Got A Friend" to James Taylor, King's rendition of her own song is equally compelling; the words of this song are the ultimate anthem of deep, dedicated friendship. Most of the other songs of the album speak of loneliness or a desire to be at peace with one's self. Tapestry also contains two early compositions of hers, "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" and "Natural Woman," which will always be ingrained on our minds as the song we associate with Aretha Franklin. "Way Over Yonder" has a soulful, blues-y feel and features Curtis May on a tenor sax solo in the middle of the song. Poetic and beautiful, "Tapestry" deserves to hold the title of the album, while "Smackwater Jack" seems oddly misplaced on this album. Listening to this album will leave you with the feeling that you had a conversation with a long-time trusted friend, in the comfort of her living room. It is down-to-earth yet deep in the messages it conveys about life, love and the desire to be happy.

2002 SACD DSD 5.1 (Sony)
Well I bought this disc back in 2007. It's so good, so awesome to listen to, that I just could not pull myself away from listening to it in order to write a review. Let's face it, when having the choice between listening to a jewel of a surround disc or writing out a review, the music is going to win every time. I feel fortunate to have bought it when I did before it became so rare and costly to attain. That is a darn shame. It's a shame because if you love this album, you simply must own this. Beg, borrow, whatever... just get it. I'll never in my life have the experience of sitting in a recording studio while a masterpiece is being recorded, nor will you. Here is the good news though, you wont need to. Not if you have this disc. Yes, that is the experience of listening to this. I kid you not! I want to emphasize this again, as a music lover- if you love this album, if you appreciate the few in a lifetime experiences of joy when you listen to a real talent performing in front of you, get this disc for yourself. I know you will come back here with a comment to thank me. Be aware though, the first track is a little rough around the edges. The use of surround is excellent and Carol's voice coming at you from center channel will give you goosebumps. I know this sounds like a bunch of hype, but trust me, I have trashed some awful sounding albums with brutally honest one star reviews. Content 5 Audio Quality 5

LP Album of Tapestry (Kind of Wobbly as it Played)
The package came on time and looked great. My only concern was that when we took out the LP and played it on the record player the album seemed very wobbly as it turned around, but the sound was wonderful and it did not skip on either side.

Memories
Bought it for my son and daughter-in-law who were unfamiliar with Carole. They are in for a pleasant surprise. I would rate this masterpiece as being in the top 10 lps of all time.

Bought a new copy of this all time classic from Carole King to replace a worn out edition. Lovers of classic rock & folk/rock must have this one in their collection !
