Paired up easily with Smartthings as a motion and temp sensor
I chose this over others due to the size and 4-in-1 features. Paired up easily with Smartthings as a motion and temp sensor, but if you look at the other reviews and add the custom device handler, you'll unlock all 4 features. Works like a charm and from what I can tell the temp is pretty spot on as well. I like that it runs on 2 AAA batteries so I can put some rechargables in there instead of the coin and 123a batteries my other z-wave devices use. Possibly my only complaint... the motion sensor is NOT pet friendly so my original idea of also using it for an alarm went out the window. I don't care if the cats trigger a light here and there but I don't want them sending false alarms all day and night. The sensitivity IS adjustable from 1 - 7. I have it down to 6 and the cats still trigger it at times. At 7 sometimes I won't even trigger it so I can't go any lower. Bottom line is if you don't have pets (or don't care about them triggering anything) and want an accurate 4 in 1 sensor that is nice and small, get this.

Awesome 4 sensor zwave device!
I was concerned when I first installed in my basement, as the light sensor constantly showed zero. From what I understand the device reports 0-100% based on the previous light levels where it is installed. After a couple days, it learned how bright it gets in my basement ( which is fairly dark ) and shows from 0-100% of the brightness for my basement. After I moved it to a brighter location, it showed 100% for a couple days until it learned the new brightness levels. Same thing again when I moved it back to the basement. The humidity and temperature sensor work flawlessly, and you can set the sensitivity to 0.1 degree. I turned down the sensitivity to 0.5 degrees to save a bit on battery. Motion is detected and reported immediately. I have it aimed to cover a door and 2 windows about 30ft away. My small dog doesn't set it off, but any person near the door or window does. So far, this has been absolutely perfect for my usage. Very tempted to order another one, just need to figure out where I want to put it first.

Good multisensor, especially V2.0; motion a bit laggy as common with Z-Wave
I was looking for a lux/light sensor that I could use with (at the time) SmartThings, and this was one of few I could find. Doubling as a motion sensor is a plus because I was planning to turn on lights with motion if it was dark enough to need them. This device works well as a lux sensor (and temperature and humidity, though I've found humidity values with sensors like these to vary by over 10% compared to other meters I have). There are parameters you can set to configure how often (or with what amount of change) these values update. It seems to report light in percent instead of lux, and for me, percentages below about 15% are where I would want lights on, but YMMV. I have little problem with this aspect of the device. My biggest problem with this device is as a motion sensor, at least with the first generation of the device: there is a significant delay between motion and this device reporting motion to the hub. Usually this is just a few seconds, which is annoying but not particularly problematic in my location. This could be because when I used it on SmartThings, it required a custom DTH and required cloud execution. Zooz has since released a "V2.0" of this device that is reported to respond faster to motion. They mention a third-party study found this to be the fastest Z-Wave motion sensor. That could certainly be the case, but all Z-Wave motion sensors are a bit slow in my experience, and this one (even the 2.0 revision) is no exception, though I'm getting only a second or so of lag compared to my fastest (Zigbee) sensors now, part of which may be due to me having switched to Hubitat where everything executes locally. If you see any reviews about extreme lag--as I noticed with the first hardware revision of this sensor on SmartThings--they may be the older version (the Amazon listing combines them). It's still not fantastic, but it's not bad for Z-Wave. If you don't care about super-quick response for motion (or are using for one of its other sensing capabilities), this device may work well for you. If you do care about motion and are using this in an area where quick response is key, I'd suggest a Zigbee sensor if your platform supports these (Iris v2 sensors are my now-discontinued favorite, but anything by Centralite, which may now also be hard to find, tended to be good; the current generation of SmartThings motion sensors is also good, though none have all the extra features of the Zooz 4-in-1). Otherwise, if the generally slower response time for Z-Wave isn't a problem for you (or it's all your hub supports), this is not a bad option--and certainly much better than the original version of the sensor was.

Used many sensors and this is my favorite thus far. And it works with SmartThings!
SmartThings user and developer here. I got my first sensor from TheSmartestHouse.com, because I wanted to try a new multi-sensor that was a bit more affordable than some others. Being no stranger to having to write some code for a device that hasn't been officially adopted to SmartThings, I figured it should be straightforward. The nice part about any Z-Wave certified device is they have to be made to their standards and communicate to the standards, thus writing code for them tends to be, predictable... You can find the fully optioned and functional version here (currently version 1.1): [...] If you'd rather have temperature be the main tile, use this alternate one: [...] Stuff I like: * Its size and form factor. It's quite unobtrusive to anyone used to typical home alarm motion sensors. * What comes in the box. All kinds of mounting brackets. You should be a NO lack for the right stuff to get this sensor mounted where and how you want it. * The fact it uses 2 regular AAA batteries. This sounds like a simple thing, but... * The regular reporting of sensor data. Also sounds like a simple thing, but check forums for all the folks who just want updated values on a regular basis. If you're wanting to control a humidifier, or a window AC unit or anything that needs to be responsively managed, this is for you. * The notification LED is actually usable. YES, you have to be looking at it, but it does actually blip colors based on whats up. Maybe more a novelty but I can see it out of the corner of my eye and know it is doing something (without staring at an app). I do provide controls for that in my device type by the way... * IT IS ACTUALLY PRETTY DARN ACCURATE! Again, seems like a no brainer. I have a bunch of different multisensors at my house and The only one I trust implicitly is the $500 Carrier MyTouch thermostat on my wall! HA! And, actually, this sensor reads to within tenths of a degree temperature wise and about 1 percent relative humidity when placed next to that thermostat. The others no. Some are off by 4 degrees and 9 points of humidity! * Another accuracy win, the light sensor! OK, so it reads in percent... like 0 is dark and 100 is fully lit.. whatever that means.. it isn't in candles or lux like we would even (most of us) know what those numbers equated to, but REALLY quickly you figure out what it is talking about. The also, thoughtfully, put the light sensor on the front face, UNOBSTRUCTED by the plastic housing, but as you can see (the top left dark spot) it doesn't look bad. I don't think so anyway. * Other developerish stuff I wont bother commenting about... What I DONT like... * The action button as mentioned by another reviewer, needs to be pressed with something small. An unbent, naked paperclip (not the plastic ones) works fine, as does a thumbtack. I am rather leery about sticking sharp objects into electronics though. I would ask that future versions have a more accessible action button. * It isn't IP anything rated. That I know of... Maybe I could pull it all apart and coat it with something, but... I'd like to be able to use it outdoors. Under shelter of course... I suppose I could throw it out there and find out, but... I'll let the vendor comment on that. I did read the instructions and it says indoor use only. * Working temperature range. This is definitely a "home sensor" meaning an in your comfy house sensor. I live in Houston, and say I wanted to put it in my attic to drive a fan or something.. I'm not sure based on the product lit and the hot Houston summers whether it would survive. That's it. I liked it enough I impulse bought another on Amazon! Thanks Amazon, yes you know me well. I'd say it is a pretty great device especially since of my three cons, 2 of them are unknowns... Way to go guys! can't wait to see what you come up with next!

Good sensor, eats batteries
I keep mine next to my mouse hand on my desk so that I can have events (e.g., turn off the light) triggered when (e.g.) no motion has been detected for 15 minutes. Works well for that, but every 2 or 3 months, I have to replace the battery. I guess the upside of this annoyance is that it trains me to try a new battery whenever any of my routines fail to fire. :) I have the same model in the bathroom and its batteries last nearly a year, so clearly, all of the motion my desk one is detecting is adversely affecting the battery life. If it's 3V (and presumably low current), could I just hardwire an ancient 3V DC adapter from something else to keep it powered without batteries? (Edit to answer my own question: I didn't have a 3V AC adapter lying around, so I bought a 3V 1A one and plan to run thin wire through the mounting holes in the back. And if I'm feeling really frisky, I might add an in-line connector so I can run it hardwire or not. None of this is electrical/electronic advice; I'm just some random dude who is thinking out-loud about hardwiring my Zooz sensor to an AC adapter, so don't do what I do.) Update: I bought a cheap AC adapter called "SMAKNร Premium External Power Supply 3v 1A AC/DC Adapter, Plug Tip: 5.5mm x 2.5mm" and a pack of "20 Gauge Silicone JST Connector, SIM&NAT 5.9 inch 2 Pin Male Female JST RCY Plug Connectors Cable Wire for LED Lamp Strip RC Toys Battery (10 Pair)", cut off the adapter's plug (voiding the warranty, I'm sure), stripped the wires, used some old butt-splice connectors I had laying around to connect the adapter to one end of a connector pair (red to red, white to black), removed the 123 battery from the sensor, connected the other side of the connector to the battery terminal springs (in an embarrassingly fiddly way), taped up the butt-splice connections, plugged it all in, and it works! NOTE! I have no idea if this hardwiring will void the Zooz warranty or not. This arrangement may shock you or burn down your house or something else that is unforeseen, so this is not advice; this is a description of how NOT to do this! However, for me, I now no longer have to worry about this sensor eating batteries, so I am happy!

both functions performed terrible. I got 6 of these from Amazon and ...
I ordered these for use with Samsung SmartThings. When I first got these, it was with hope of wider coverage area and trigger based response system - unfortunately, both functions performed terrible. I got 6 of these from Amazon and they all came with F/W version 16.9. It does polling on set intervals which is truly a very poor design and on the top of it, fastest you could set it to poll was every one minute. What this means is, when its polling (every one minute), if it detects motion, it reports - which is truly a poor design.. The motion sensor of this part has ability to cover a large area (as claimed), but it's really useless with polling based design.. Just to give a contrast, Samsung SmartThing's motion sensors are trigger based and they are extremely responsive.. Second issue is, the sensor F/W has active and inactive modes depending on how long a has it been since it detected motion.. I had tried this motion sensor to my security system and when system was armed, it generated a trigger when I no one was at home (and we don't have any pets). When I investigated it, I realized that it was a false trigger when sensor's mode changed from active to inactive which triggered intrusion.. It's not reliable motion sensor for Security system.. Third issue is on light sensing: The response is sluggish (seems like F/W does a lot of time based averaging). It takes several 10s of seconds for it to recognize ambient light changes, which hurts if you have set up functions such as "turn on a light based on motion if light level is less than xyz lux". What happens is it wouldn't have forgotten the ambient light levels of the very lights its controlling and thus light based trigger breaks.. Last issue is on battery life - the AA batteries were truly poor design choice and they don't last very long especially if this sensor is in a high traffic area.. The temperature and humidity sensing are acceptable.. Overall, I rate 2 stars for this product..

Works great with Vera and OpenHAB
I love this little thing! It's fairly small, only 2.25" square, and very easy to place. The mount mounts flat along a wall, then pivots in two directions (left/right and up/down). So while you technically can't mount it directly on a corner, you can mount it very close to the corner then pivot it to achieve the same thing. Very accommodating! The little Zooz has a lot to like! First off when you crank the sensitivity on it, it obliges and is VERY sensitive for motion! My default motion sensor is a Monoprice motion sensor, and oftentimes I can walk right under them and they will fail to notice any motion. Not so with the Zooz! I have two of them, and with sensitivity on highest detection from twenty feet away is easy and assured every time. Funny thing is that the motion sensor blinks red that it's seen motion *after* it's transmitted motion via Zwave. That's neither here nor there, just an interesting twist. The light sensor is a nice addition. It's clearly intended for indoor use, because very quickly it maxes out at 100% even on a cloudy day. But for indoor use this is fine; it easily registers the difference between ambient light and ambient light + desk lamp, so it's sensitive enough in the right range. Temperature and humidity sensors have configurable sensitivity (i.e. how big of a change in temperature or humidity do you want to trigger a report to your hub). It doesn't automatically send temperature or humidity when motion is detected, but it does automatically send temperature and humidity events together. So if the humidity change triggers the unit to update, you'll also get a temperature report, and vice-versa. Obviously the more times it's transmitting the faster you're going to use up the battery, but that's a tradeoff they allow the user to make. There's really only one downside that I have with the ZSE40, and that's that it insists on having a visual indicator for the temperature. The temperature ranges for the indicator are wide and non-adjustable so I don't find them useful; below 60F, 60-75F, 75-83F, 83-97F, and over 97F. It'd be much more useful if I could adjust them to personal taste. That wouldn't be so bad, except that you can't turn off the visual indicator entirely without also disabling motion indication! So at night you're going to see a colored flash of light down a dark hallway unless you disable all indications entirely. The ZSE40 definitely needs a 'show motion but not temperature' setting. (Right now it has 'show none', 'slow blink temperature and fast blink motion', and 'fast blink both'.) Works great with both Vera and OpenHAB 1 & 2. With Vera you add it as a generic sensor, then it comes up as four separate sensors (motion, temperature, humidity, light). OpenHAB has an example you can cut and paste to get it working quickly. Blinking the temperature range is a minor nitpick, but otherwise I'm really happy with the performance of the ZSE40s and consider them a large step up from the Monoprice 10796 motion detector. Definitely would purchase again!

Better than Smartthings motion sensor
I was wary about buying this product since Amazon stated it was under review, but the Smartthings motion sensor I purchased before was a headache. I really needed just a temp sensor for a room to tell my AC unit to turn on and off. The Smartthings motion sensor does detect temperature, however to conserve battery life, it disconnects when it doesn't detect motion for a period of time. I haven't found a way to change that setting. So, it's pretty useless to me. It might be good for a motion sensor, but I don't really need that. On to the Zooz 4-in-1. It costs about $12 more than Smartthings, but it comes with light and humidity sensing as well. Like I said, I don't have much need for that, and I'd rather be able to put a cheap temp sensor in every room in my house (big house, poor HVAC installation), but it's worth the cost. Doesn't disconnect. Reports based on changes in sensors, not time based, so you get accurate readouts. What I love about the sensor is its ability to be customized. Lots of options and settings can be adjusted. I use Smartthings hub, which, 20/20 hindsight isn't the best. They're making a transition from one app to another, so I have to use two apps to do all the customization I want. One for changing settings, another for automations. But adding the sensor to the system isn't all that hard. You copy and paste some code then save and publish the code, it's really easy. So far I'm happy with the product. I've had it for two days, the battery is still at 100%. I figure if it loses 1%/1.5days, then that's about 6 months of use, which is acceptable to me, and it hasn't dropped 1% yet. Overall I'm happy. I'd really like to see individual sensors (specifically temperature) sold for $10 or less, but that's not an option right now...

Purchased this to get motion and temperature functions. I had previously used Fibaro multi-sensors and I really liked those but they are a bit expensive. Thought I'd try the Zooz as a cheaper alternative. It is a really good product, very responsive to detect motion. I'm using it with a Smart Things Hub to control lights using a GE Smart Switch and it reacts instantly to motion with the lights coming on immediately without delay. Temperature accuracy seems to be good too, reads the same as the Fibaro. I was able to sync it easily with the Smart Things Hub.This model is the rev 2 with the CR123a battery (include) not the AAs that are listed in the description. I prefer the CR123a as I'm using those for most of my other sensors and they seem to last very long. All in all, a very good product. In fact, I just ordered another one.

Does play well with Hubitat Elevation.
Initial setup is a bit confusing but I'll put that down to part of joining z-wave devices. This is my first z-wave device. It worked well for a month but then the problems started. Overnight the battery died (radio stuck on?). Replaced the battery, they are not cheap. With a lot of fuss I finally got the device reset and connected. Worked but over night the device stopped reporting again. Manually synced the device again and it started working again but the battery is down to 40%. I gave 1 more star. Not sure what I did but the sensor has been working flawlessly for months. No battery issues either.

Great units way better than competing units
I originally tried to save money by ordering the Monoprice ones that look identical to these they worked great on vera lite for a year or so. Then I upgraded to the vera plus and lost signifcant portions of my life trying to get them to pair and working with vera support. I then moved onto the Aeontec sensors they so pair with vera but have problems of their own and I hate their mounting they've fallen off the wall several times not a fan. Which brings me to these. Starting at the box it's great quality the sensor even though it looks identical to the Monoprice unit on the outside that's where the similarities stop. it has several different mounting options to you can get it aimed and securely mounted to your wall/ceiling. They ship with a panasonic CR123 in the box not some terrible no name brand, Clear instructions. Their website has many technical articles to help you out with several zwave hubs. Don't waste your time/money on other units jut get these from the start the field of vision is excellent and trigger very quickly and the, temp/humidity are very accurate as well.

Great performance, decent price
I am using this with SmartThings and it took a bit of work to get going, but since the initial setup it has been rock solid. I am only using mine for temperature and humidity, but it is accurate, has good battery life and hasn't given me any issues with drop offs. I'd love if they simply made a temperature and humidity sensor only at a cheaper price, but currently this is the cheapest option on the market I can find and I've been very happy with it.

Does not work most of the time
I bought this sensor to compliment the Samsung motion sensors I have in the rest of the house, since this one is supposed to provide an Illuninance measurement. Well, the light meter has never worked. It is just stuck at 100% all the time. The motion detection works once in a while, but more often it just stops reporting motion and every couple of days the entire sensor goes offline and needs to be reset. I will be tossing this thing in the bin and replacing with another Samsung sensor. Update: Zooz support turned out to be pretty helpful and the device is now working as advertised after much troubleshooting. The troubleshooting mostly consisted of various levels of resetting the device though, so I am still worried that the issue might return.
