What an amazing book!
What an amazing book! Im not a believer of diets or drastic changes in you eating habits. That only means temporary change=body harm. Im a 31 y/o. No kids. Married. With a 7:30-5:00 job. A 40 min commute. And a fitbit watch to try to achieve at least 8,000 steps a day. In other words, Im kinda normal. I always was underweight. My ideal weight used to be 106-110. Im only 5ft. When I turned 26 my weight started to change due to bad eating habits. I went to 125, then 135 and finally 145. I started watching what I was eating about two years ago, but loosing that extra weight hasn't been easy. As per my primary doc, my ideal weight for my height and age should be 115-125. I dont know how to achieve that! I do not consume sugars/sweets because I simply dont like them. My weakness is beer and buffalo wings. I dont eat salty either, it became a habit after my dad got a heart surgery about ten years ago. My breakfast is usually tea with crackers, for lunch I like soup, and dinner varies. But I think dinner is what kills me. For the most part I cook a typical Hispanic meal: rice, beans, and some sort of meat. But when I don't cook, hubby and I just order food (pizza or Chinese). For about two years now, my weight hit the 130-135 mark. I have not been able to weight less than that. I decided to give this book a try not to achieve my ideal weight, I gave up on that a while ago. But to cleanse my system which I think is something I truly need. In just four days I already feel the difference: Im sleeping so much better. I have so much energy and somehow, Im always happy (Im like that famous grumpy cat, so a happy face is abnormal in my case haha). Giving up meats is not a challenge (I was vegetarian for about three years, until I developed rashes and a weak inmune system). Im not that much into dairy. Fruits are the love of my life. I love bread, but I can survive without it; same with pasta. But the beer??? Oh my! I love my beer at night. Yet, I have not missed it. Im fine without it ;) Weird craving Ive been having is salt. However, I love pickled veggies, so I guess thats where the craving comes from. What makes this program easy is that you are not deprived from eating at all. If you feel hungry you get to eat any veggies or fruits of your choice. You also get to eat hard boiled eggs, which I never ate those many before in my life hahaha. They are filling and very nutricious. The book does not mention a limit on eggs. I did some research and an average of 4-6 a day is completely healthy. I'm having three a day. I also snack on fruits and veggies that are not part of the smoothy of the day, that way I do not loose motivation. I am not doing the salt-water flush. Not my thing.! I will let my body do everything on its own. Im not adding sweetners either, but thats just because as I said before, I dont like sweets. Im drinking plenty of water which I always have, and a bought a variety of detox teas to switch flavors. Lastly, pretty much all my ingredients are organic. Ive been buying organic for years now. And I am not adding any protein to my smoothies. I rather to get that protein from organic eggs. I will update this post with more results. My experience is a good one. I completely suggest you try this program. The only side effect I experienced was a little rash by my lip. It went away in half hour and it happened on my first day. Another thing Im experiencing is something like hot-flashes hahaha... I just wake up sweating and with my body tempeture up. But I dont feel like is something bad. Maybe the sweat is the way my system is cleansing. By the way, I decided to take pics everyday. I want to see the difference my self. No filters used, filters dont cheat others but yourself! And, I decided to use the same outfit when taking the pictures so that the results are hopefully, more visible. Good luck trying the program! 2/4/16 Update Hello everyone! I am sorry for not updating this post earlier. Believe it or not, I couldnt figure out how to do it + Im a busy girl. So, I uploaded all other pics. Since a succesful end to my cleanse, I have continued with the modified version (2 smoothies and a HEALTHY meal). My total loss was 10 pounds and I continue to be at 125. 125 is perfect in my case given my height and age. However, I am thinking about doing the cleanse again soon; not to lose weight, but to get rid of xmas/new yrs/vacation toxins :) I have to admit that my eating habits completely changed. I continue to crave fruits and veggies on a daily basis. To me that is the most interesting part of all. I continue to indulge on buffalo wings and beer over the weekends and my results continue to be the same. By The way, on the weekends I rarely drink smoothies; I eat 2-3 meals and feel just fine. However, and once again, my meals are healthy. I kinda became a pesquetarian, all I eat is fish and lots of veggies. On another note, I gave a try to three different things mentioned in the book: sea-salt water flush (I add a lime to it to make it easier to drink) and oh my if I recommend it, it makes me feel digestively clean :). I also bought Mag07 and wow! JJ Smith is right about those pills, is a great way to stay regular and help your digestive system stay healthy. Finally, I did the liver cleanse (8oz water and 2tbs apple cider vinegar) and my waist has gotten thinner. I continue to go to the book all the time. I get recipes from there, and I just go back to her various tips. Since, I bought another book with hundreds of green smoothie recipes. I like JJ Smith's recipes better because are less sweeter, but nonetheless, the other book helps me keep up with my routine too. I developed a method: Once a month I get a shopping list ready. I separate all recipes on ziploc bags and freeze them. The night before I take them out and done! I waste no time making my daily dose of health. I also bought a Ninja blender. Mine was a small one and I had to make a smoothie at a time (no time for that in the am). Im totally in love with my new blender because I make 2-3 cups of the same smoothie at once. Feel free to ask me questions. I continue to recommend the book. Im also very active in JJ Smith's twitter account because the program worked like a charm in my case. I love my new eating habits and how I feel in general, and thats all thanks to JJ Smith. Last note: people constantly compliment me on my skin and hair, people do notice my weight loss, and people continue to talk about how cheerful I am most of the time which I find hillarious given how grumpy I am ha! Best of luck to those considering the cleanse.

I am a true convert!
Update (2/18): I have lost 9lbs in 4 days! I lost 5lbs the first 24 hours and 2lbs the next two days. I have 12lbs to go. Stay tuned! Update (2/16): I had a family tragedy, which put me into a depressed tail spin. I gained all my weight back and found 10 more pounds (sigh). After a lot of soul searching, crying, and frustration, I remembered I had JJ’s book. So, I blew off the dust, yesterday (2/15), and started all over. This is what I did.... 1. I burned 2,100 calories, without exercising. And, normally, I have to walk 5 miles to burn that many calories. 2. I drank half my body weight in water - throughout the day. And it was REAL easy, because my stomach wasn’t clogged up with food. 3. I drank my Yogi Peach Detox tea 4. I drank my 3 smoothies with a packet of Starkist Chink Light Tuna (low sodium with water), and a hard-boiled egg as a snack. I lost 5 pounds. I was NOT hungry AT ALL. I didn’t even miss not eating a big meal. Full Disclosure: I am 53 years old, on disability, due to depression, taking meds, which side effects include weight gain, and I’m going through menopause. If I can lose weight using this system ANYBODY can. Update (June 6, 2016) - I am in love with this meal plan! I have jumped off it a couple of times, to enjoy other foods, and my body immediately realizes that it craves the vegetables and fruits. I am seriously not interested in sugars, breads, or fried foods. I can even be around people eating ANYTHING and I am cool drinking water and waiting until it's time for my smoothie. I just don't crave foods anymore. I have WAY more energy. My menopause symptoms are almost hard to detect. And, I am 51 years old. So, I was truly struggling with hot flashes. My grey hair is not coming in as fast; although, my hair is GROWING! I have had multiple compliments that I look younger and healthier. My eyes are so much clearer.... And, last but certainly not least, I no longer crave alcohol! And, I honestly thought that a day without a martini was a day without sunshine (lol). I even invested in a Blendtec from Costco, where you can get it for lowest price. So, making smoothies is as easy as it comes. If you are interested in changing your relationship with food and no longer counting calories, look not further. Get JJ Smith's books (Lose Weight Without Exercising and 10-Day Green Smoothie Cleanse) and I PROMISE you, you will lose no less than 15 pounds in 1 month - IF you seriously follow the plan and walk at least 3 miles a day (or 7,500 steps) five days a week. Last week (May 18, 2016), I stepped on the scale and almost started crying. I have slowly gained 15 pounds, in 3 months, after paying a trainer $500/mo, for 3 months, to help me get in shape. In those 3 months with the trainer, I lost 15 pounds and gained muscle. I looked like I did in my early 40s! It took a lot of hard work. I ate like a rabbit. I felt guilty for any food cravings I had. I fought hard to resist the urge to sneak late-night snacks. Our family budge sacrificed a lot to get me a trainer. And, when the 3 months was over, it was over. I had to figure out a way to "fly solo"....., and I failed. I am 51 years old. I am going through CRAZY menopause. You name the symptoms, I have them. Out of desperation, I started looking on-line for self-help books, to help me re-train my late-night binges, having my nightly cocktail, and to gain control of my weight. And, some how I came across JJ Smith's book "Lose Weight Without Exercising". Yea...okay. Sure I can lose weight without exercising. Ain't nobody ever said that. I ain't ever read that ANYWHERE. And, I would be a stark raving idiot to believe the title. At first blush, I wanted to overlook the book, because it seemed too easy. However, I could not get past how many positive reviews the book received. So, I started reading them. Then, I started a "quest" on the internet to find out who this author was and to confirm if she is "credible"...., which I highly doubted.... But, she is CREDIBLE. Here book, and its contents, ARE the real deal. At the end of the day, I bought "Lose Weight Without Exercising" from Audible.com. I crammed, practically, the whole book into a one-day listening session. That same day, I discovered JJ Smith wrote another book, called "10-Day Green Smoothie Cleanse". I went to the book store, the same day, and bought it. I started the cleanse on Friday, May 20. Today is Wednesday, May 25. I am down 11 pounds!!!! I have NO (Zero, Absolutemente Nada) cravings! I wake up, make my shake, put it in a Mason jar, make my green and detox teas, and drink them all down (within 30 minutes). And, I actually have to set an alarm to remind me to eat in 4 hours. Why? Because, I AM NOT HUNGRY!!! I am 100% satiated all day. If I do get hungry, I eat an apple and no sugar peanut butter. Or, I will eat a hard boiled egg and vegetables. Last night, I went too long without food and I felt nauseated. I could not figure out what was going on. My body needed food! It had been 6 hours since I ate! My bad :(. After eating, I immediately felt better, was able to go to bed and woke up feeling wonderful. I have nothing but praises for this book and the cleanse. I have already told 5 people. I have encouraged my husband to start the cleanse. I have benefited, in the following ways, past weight loss: 1. My BMR is higher. I can do less and burn more calories. 2. I am mentally stronger. I do not crave alcohol or any type of snacks; 3. My critical thinking skills are sharper; 4. My digestive system is razor sharp (no constipation, no bloating, and no cramping); 5. I do not feel weighed down in my belly (during the day, or in the evening before I go to bed); 6. I have lots of energy; 7. Un-explicable muscle aches are gone! 8. My face is clear, supple, and younger looking; and, 9. The whites of my eyes are really clear. I will follow the modified cleanse at least 5 days a week, for the rest of my life. I cannot explain how efficient my body is running. I truly feel like an idiot for securing a trainer. All I ever needed was JJ Smith's books. Buy the book. Trust me... You will feel empowered if you read both books and follow the instructions. YOU CAN DO THIS! I will post my pics on May 30, 2016.

Definitely worth a try
First of all, let me say that I don't actually believe in the whole "detox" thing. I don't have any facts, it just sounds like pseudoscience to me, especially when the author starts recommending those Chinese foot pads you can buy off the TV. I bought this book and tried this 10-day diet after several family members started it and would not shut up about how great it was, and how amazing they felt. There's a family wedding this month, so I figured, why not? It's better than the diet I'm not on, plus we just bought a nice blender and I want to play with it. My main goals are: 1. Weight loss, and 2. Breaking the cycle of eating unhealthy food. I have type 2 diabetes, poster child for metabolic syndrome. I don't eat well, plus I have been trying unsuccessfully to break my addiction to diet soda, after reading so much about how it affects your body, even if they don't know why yet. This book claims that following this diet for 10 days will stop your cravings for unhealthy foods. We'll see. Day 1, delicious smoothies, could drink this stuff all day, which is good because that's kind of the point. The one blip was, I took my regular dose of meal-time insulin with my morning smoothie, because while it's all greens and fruit, it's pretty high in (natural) sugar. Well, maybe because of the low glycemic index and slower glucose absorption, I ended up hypoglycemic after a few hours. Had to drink a glass of milk (which is a nono on the diet) to get back to normal. Plus pounded a bunch of nuts before I figured out what the issue was and thought I was just really hungry. Took 2 mag07 (colon cleansing supplement) capsules at bedtime to help move all the fiber along. No movement in the morning. Day 2, woke up slightly low blood glucose again, but just got started on my breakfast smoothie to correct. Smoothie again delicious, smooth sailing until dinner time, when I broke down after cooking for the kids and ate a small portion of pasta with tomato sauce (again, no no). Finally had a BM. Took 3 mag07 at bedtime, and lowered my long-acting insulin dose to avoid another low. Day 3, even lower blood glucose, another glass of milk to correct. Promised colon cleansing did not come into effect until mid-morning. At work. And today's smoothie is not good at all. I'm eating the recommended snack foods instead, hard-boiled eggs, nuts, fruits and veggies. Might try tweaking the recipe for dinner to see if I can make it palatable. I just don't like the combo of banana and blueberry. However, as of this morning I have lost 4 whole pounds (!), and something interesting has happened. I started drinking only water and green tea (which I LOVE, you have to try the Kirkland brand) with this diet, but this morning I forgot my teabags, and the Starbucks tea was way too strong and bitter to drink, so I gave up and just got my usual diet soda for my caffeine fix (you're not supposed to have caffeine, but again, I'm not here for detoxing). I could only get through about half of it when I realized that all I could taste was the artificial sweetener. I think that going even 2 days eating and drinking nothing but natural, wholesome food has already changed my palate, and pop just doesn't taste good anymore. Even if that is the only thing I get from this experience, it will be totally worth it. But I know I'll keep drinking these smoothies after the 10 days (just for 1 meal maybe) because it is a really delicious, efficient way to get lots of greens in your diet, which is so good for you. Day 4, another winner with peaches and berries, mmm. I think at this point I am doing the 'modified cleanse' which is 2 smoothies and one meal per day, because I ate dinner again last night, and I had some vegetarian chili for lunch (I was looking for vegetables but there are none to be found near my work today apparently). Lowered my insulin dose again last night and again had a low this morning. I guess I never realized how much my diet affected my baseline (fasting) glucose. If I continue this as a regular way of eating (which I will) I could potentially halve my doses. That's amazing. Ok, so yesterday was Day 10. Final results: I have lost 8.5 pounds, kicked my soda habit, and drastically reduced my insulin usage. I had an appointment with my diabetes doctor, and he said it would be fine for me to continue with the modified diet indefinitely, so I am continuing to make my smoothie in the morning and having it for breakfast/morning snack, with low-carbs goodies like eggs and nuts, and a nice salad for lunch, then a lean protein/veg dinner. So far, so great. I am not having uncontrollable cravings for unhealthy foods, and I don't have that deprived feeling you get with diets. I have "cheated" a few times, but it's not hard to get back on track quickly. I do feel better energy, and I can see a difference in the mirror, because it seems like a lot of the weight I lost was just un-bloating. I forgot to mention, the 8.5 pounds were lost the week before my period, so instead of blowing up like a puffer fish as I usually would during that time, I was actually slimming down. Nice! I would definitely recommend this to anyone, and I will be doing it again if I find myself getting into unhealthy eating habits again. It was very easy, and surprisingly effective. One last thing: your poop will turn green while you do this, enjoy.

So far good results -- see detailed review...
I am giving this four stars because I just completed the 10-day cleanse and want to see how things will progress from here. I’m continuing for a full two weeks so we’ll see how things go. Overall I think this cleanse is a good exercise in trying something new, challenging yourself a little bit, and you might even lose some weight in the process! Otherwise, I had great results: First off my stats: I started off a size 6/8 with about 16 pounds of fat I wanted to lose. Starting weight was 156 lbs. I expected that since I was kinda close to goal weight, I would see less than 10 lbs weight loss. Imagine my surprise to lose 13 LBS! Fat vs Muscle Loss: I wanted to measure fat vs. water vs. muscle loss but did not do it, so I would be curious to see. The last thing I want to be is “skinny fat”, so I would hope to lose mostly fat and maybe water on this cleanse. I did a couple of eyeball checks to determine whether I felt like I was losing muscle mass, mainly in my legs and abs. I can’t tell that there’s been any muscle loss, though I’m not an expert and you probably need equipment to track it. Prior to the cleanse I had put on some muscle with strength training. Muscles now appear and feel a little more defined, likely due to the fact that the fat isn’t covering them any longer. But I would recommend that anyone who does this cleanse track their fat loss to see what kind of weight you’re actually losing. Snacks I stuck to mostly the same snacks everyday: mid-morning snack was an apple (sometimes I ate it right after my morning smoothie), early afternoon snack was two hard boiled eggs, late afternoon snack was another apple (sometimes I would switch the order), and then sometimes I had celery in the evenings if I was hungry or feeling munchy. Cravings I had cravings but I dealt with them. The first 3-4 days were easier. Day 5 for me was rough, and also Day 7. After that, I thought about food a lot but I was pretty well resolved not to cheat, and at that point in the cleanse I didn’t feel the urge to actually go out and do it. Workouts I worked out twice…. Weight Loss Patterns So while I really wanted to lose weight, I did this as a challenge to myself to just complete the cleanse, that’s it. Even if I didn’t lose any weight, at least I stuck to it and that was worth something to me. I did check in every other day just to see what progress was like. Weight loss varied. Here’s my tracking: Day 2: -6 lbs Day 4: No weight loss (a little disappointed but just reminded myself that my goal was to finish the cleanse. So glad I didn’t give up!!) Day 6: -4 lbs Day 10: -3 lbs Mood I don’t know whether it’s the cleanse or the winter weather, but I didn’t want to deal with people very much. By about day 6 or 7, I started really appreciating the smoothies. I liked the green color b/c it felt like I was drinking salads, and salads are great for you! Even when I was hungry, I didn’t mind that much. By day 10, I was in a great mood, lots of energy, really productive at work, etc.

A LIFE CHANGING BOOK AND PLAN
Let me tell you, if you ever are in need of an eating lifestyle change, this is the book for you. I first learned about this from my aunt. I was a little reluctant to try something new because I'd really just given up on dieting and exercising. This book takes absolutely no time to learn. If you have a blender and love smoothies, you will have no problem at all navigating your way through it and adapting it to your everyday life. Basically, the smoothies are filled with a ton of greens to help you eliminate craving the unhealthy foods. Boy, does it ever do that. After about three days, I craved salads and didn't want anything sweet, starchy, or fatty. Just try to remember that you do need to eat. Nuts, carrots, boiled eggs (for omnivores), bell peppers, cucumbers, fruits, and seeds are all options. I must admit that it didn't go as well as planned the first time because, for one, I was doing it on my own. For two, I didn't quite understand exactly what it was I was supposed to be eating. *I highly and strongly recommend that you decide on what snacks you want to have BEFORE you ever even start this. Also, if you are vegetarian or vegan, you will need to get creative. I had no problems incorporating protein into my plan because I was able to eat nuts and tofu in place of the meats at the end of the cleanse.* One thing you have to know that will make it a lot easier as you take this new eating style on is that you do the cleanse for ten days, eating snacks most all day long. After the cleanse, you should start back eating healthy meals. She includes recipes for high protein meals in the back of the book. Vegans and vegetarians just need to substitute the meat out. When you start back eating healthy, there's no reason you can't still have a smoothie everyday. If you plan to incorporate the flaxseeds into each smoothie, which it is very important to do, please, please, please make sure you blend them GOOD. What some of us vegans/vegetarians know is that flaxseed mixed with water gets gelatinous, which is why it's used in many dishes instead of eggs. The seed starts to swell and gets slimy. You will notice this immediately if you don't blend/grind them well. I have a Ninja. You will need a similarly high quality blender for the smoothies. This is mentioned in the book. I found a few contradictions in the book, like the suggestion that pineapples are not good to eat due to their high sugar content, but then they are included in a couple of the smoothies. I also noticed that she isn't as knowledgeable about some exotic foods that vegans would eat. I mention this because if you are vegan or vegetarian, what is and isn't good for this diet is pretty much your own judgement call. All in all, I have learned a TON from reading this book and adapting it to my eating habits. I DID lose ten pounds exactly...down to the ounce, the second time around. I now feel like my stomach is getting smaller, and my clothes are big on me. EXERCISE while doing this. I promise you will see better results. BUY THIS BOOK!!! You will not regret it. I plan to shed more and be back at the weight I was when I first went to college years ago. This isn't just a diet. It is a lifestyle change.

YES!! Read the book 3x over my 10-day cleanse. Like a chat with JJ herself!
Update: Jan 2022 - First GSC was April of 2020. I dropped 10 pounds by day 14 on this cleanse. It completely eliminated my desire for coffee and actually took until the fall until I was able to drink a full cup again. Just purchased a second copy since a bunch of the pages fell out in the first. Taped them all back, but now a NEW copy for new year! I am back to 120# with my belly jiggle, dull skin and brain fog all the time - lots of baking and snacking since fall of 2020 has left me feeling not sharp at work and exhausted at home. Time to reboot for the new year with the GSC!! Original review: I come from a background of organic, healthy eating with limited or minimal meat or processed foods. I've always been slim, if not underweight. Changing careers (from where I walked 9-12 miles a day to returning to an office and sitting 9-5), pursuing the CFP for 2+ years (more sitting) , and then Covid lockdown left me stationary and brought my weight up from 112# to 120-123# (hopped on the scale at a vet's office and couldn't believe my eyes in 2019!). I had too much dairy in my diet (3-4 cups coffee daily with cream and sugar in each) and had begun buying breads and baking muffins and cookies. I stumbled across this book on a blog - Divas Can Cook - and immediately bought it. I already owned 3 blenders and 2 juicers, but the fact that JJ organized the book around sharing knowledge, reasoning, and attainable recipes was the reminder and kick I needed to return to my healthy self and remember how much I loved and craved fruits and veggies! Yes, much of what she shares I already knew (and had forgotten), but it is encapsulated in a small book to easily digest WHILE you tackle the GSC! Today is Day #10 and I am down from my Day #1 weigh-in of 120.5# to 113.5#! While I didn't lose a full 10#, as the book describes, I had less body fat to work with and I also had 2 eggs, a tbsp PB and handful of nuts each day. (All together I consider these additions a tiny meal unto themselves) so I expected to lose less. Tips for my success: 1) Keep a food/feeling journal! Track what you eat, how you felt, sleep times, bowel movements and water/detox tea intake! (Day #1 I was weak with a dull headache; Day #2 I had a full blown headache and was exhausted; Day#3 I finally hit my high-energy stride of consistent focus in the afternoon!...) 2) Prepare your fruit smoothie ingredients AHEAD in ziplock bags and freeze them. Label them the day of the cleanse and make it EASY in the AM to make those tasty smoothies... just add water, greens, flax and blend! 3) Don't freak if you fall off the wagon. GET BACK ON!! Day # 6 I gave into cravings for coffee (ended up throwing it out) and a bacon/cheese croissant (lousy! how did I ever think that was tasty?) so I repeated my day #6 the next day. It was my only stumble. Days 7-10, I bought a small coffee each morning on the way to work and 99% of it was still in the cup at the end of the day. It smelled divine, but it just didn't taste good! It was an inexpensive way for me to enjoy the part I loved (the smell and morning ritual) without the sweetness and caffeine boost. 4) Annoy your friends and family! TALK and SHARE your results! It will keep you accountable to yourself and the GSC. 5) Skip working out if your energy is sapped - especially during the first 5 days. Focus on the cleanse. DRINK YOUR WATER AND TEA!! The workout can come later. 6) When you resolution runs low, read all the testimonials in the second half to the book... and then read them again!! Buy the book! Do the work! Enjoy the clear-headed benefits of health!! Thank you JJ! :)

JJ Smith is changing lives one green smoothie at a time!
I can't believe it's taken me this long to finally start the GSC! If you know JJ Smith, you know she's a fixture in the Black community and has been helping folks get healthy forever. This cleanse is so effective, I'm not even waiting until the 10 days are up to review it. The book is concise, easy-to-read, and doesn't waste any time giving you the cleanse recipes. There are 2 types of cleanses (full and modified), and she provides a general outline for each, as well as tips for success during the cleanse. If you commit, you will lose. I'm currently on day 7 and I've lost 8 pounds. While I know it's mostly water weight, this cleanse is a great way to jumpstart a weight/fat loss journey. And yes, the smoothies are DELICIOUS (seriously, no misses yet), but it's the benefits I'm enjoying the most. Clearer skin, better sleep, plenty of energy, and a feeling of general well-being you really can't buy. I'm eating more fruits and vegetables than ever before, and my body is extremely happy. I think I've already dropped all my water weight at this point (my weight has slowed from 2lbs to 0.8lbs per day), so I'm looking forward to actual fat loss at this point. I did make some modifications to suit my lifestyle. I am very active (15-20K steps per day, strength training 4-5x per week), so I wanted to ensure I wasn't losing any muscle mass during the cleanse. The smoothies are high in nutrition but lowish in protein, so I'm adding vegan protein to every one of my smoothies, eating 2 hard-boiled eggs, and eating a can of tuna every day, ensuring I'm consuming at least 100g of protein per day. There has been no stall in my weight loss as far as I can tell. JJ encourages you eat! Don't limit yourself to just the smoothies--add fruits and crunchy veggies to stave off hunger--because this is not a starvation or calorie-counting diet. Focus on health and the weight loss will happen. Most importantly: BUY THE BOOK. Don't watch YouTube videos! The book offers a wealth a knowledge you can reference at a later time, so it's worth buying and keeping.

Down about 10 pounds with loose pants!
I bought this book on an impulse buy really. I had been looking at another healthy eating cookbook, and noticed this had shot up the charts and already bumped Hillary Clinton's book off the top spot just a couple weeks after release. I don't really know why, but that fact alone grabbed my attention. Anyhow, back to relevance, I bought the book after reading what it was about. I was less interested, or perhaps, even skeptical about the "cleanse" claims. Evenso, I found that what it was offering was much of what I was wanting to include or increase in my diet. Namely, I've been gearing towards more and more vegetables and greens in my diet as part of "Eat to Live" by a Dr. Joel Fuhrman. As such, this cleanse seemed to fit that program as well. Also I've found the logistics and time involved in eating a similarly sized salad simply takes me too long most days, especially at work. This cleanse made a good jumping off point for me to restart both my weight loss and healthy eating goals. Some of the claims in the book I found to come true. Namely the first few days I was irritable and weak with a couple days of headaches. Additionally the first couple of days included hard cravings for all the sugary junk and "diet" sodas I was addicted to. Some other bizarre cravings came along, namely fried chicken and chinese food. The fried chicken hit me about day 7, and is out of character, as it's a rare food for me anyway, and only really eaten when someone else has set the menu. By the 4th or 5th day I was starting to feel good, and by day 2 or 3 was no longer hungry despite the very low calories consumed. I would say by day 8 I actually felt "good" for probably the first time in years. In particular, I lost about 9.5lbs and tailored the program as follows. -Used more berries (strawberries, blueberries, cherries, and mixed) to replace Mango, Pineapple, and some of the peaches, as I wanted to reduce my sugars even further and the berries are a good fit with lots of fiber. -Ate two soft boiled eggs and a serving of raw almonds most days for added protein -Used NOW brand flavorless pea protein to make the smoothies carry me further, and it was a good economical choice for me -Used "Monk Fruit in the RAW" brand sweetener instead of stevia due to personal flavor preference [also non-calorie] -Added Cinnamon and Apple Pie Spice to most smoothies for added flavor [both low/non calorie] -Did not use bottled spring water, but "only" filtered water [your results might be better with] -Only used Organic for the greens not all products [your results might be better with] -Used the Mag07 stool softener [I was skeptical of this product, but definitely do not over take, try three before more to see what amount you need each night.] Disclaimer further reading may be unpleasant but feel it necessary to know what to expect: I am convinced this removed some things that had been inside for far too long. Some of the bowel movements, say about 3 or so were NOT to proportion with what I had been eating. Some of the "weight" I lost was undoubtedly this mass. Also the smell was like nothing I may have ever encountered. It was really bad. After these few heavy "movements" there was virtually no smell or massive bulk in the toilet on subsequent trips. The book also admonishes you to step lightly back into your solid foods. The day after I had hashbrowns, 2 eggs, oatmeal, chicken and rice, but virtually or no vegetables. Nothing too out of the ordinary, or "unhealthy", certainly not a binge, but I really saw what all the carbs did to me, in just one day. I was already feeling less well. This has overall been a good experiment for me and my relationship to carbs and sugar. I was clearly an addict and so bathed in the "carbs" that like the fish in his water, couldn't see it. This cleanse really let me see that for the first time. As I've cut my carbs to mostly fruit, legumes, peas, etc. instead of the processed carbs on this program I've really felt better. Within a few days of the cleanse I had put on about 2.5 of the pounds, but not from poor eating. I track my foods and calories and was still well under my daily goal, so you can probably expect to put a little water weight back on. That said I am still taking smoothies a couple times a day to get my greens in along with at least one healthy full meal. I think this is a path I can sustain, even after my weight is gone and stay satisfied. If you are on several meds, or have any conditions I'd definitely run this by your doctor before you jump in, it really is a big change to how we "normally" eat. Overall, I think you'll find it positive, if you stick to it. It is "only" 10 days, making it a workable goal for anyone.
